Beautiful Wayanad New Tourism Prospects

The state government will soon take steps for the development of Wayanad as a major tourism destination, informed Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Minister for Tourism. Many tourists from the neighbouring states have found Wayanad as an attractive destination, but the unavailability of hotels hinders the growth of tourism industry in the district. This deficiency will soon be resolved with private participation, the minister added.

Dr. Venu V., Secretary, Kerala Tourism, has said that 25 hotels are under construction in the state. The new projects will provide with 2,500 to 3,000 rooms with four star or higher facilities. He also informed that the government has identified an international consultant for preparing a master plan for the development of Munnar.

Apart from Wayanad, Bekal in Kasaragod and Muzhappilangad and Dharmadom in Kannur will also be developed into major tourist destinations.
