Kerala Homestays

Kerala has big numbers of easily constructed houses in which there are idle rooms for converting into tourist accommodation with negligible improvements including land bungalows, heritage homes, farm houses, empty houses owned by Non Resident Indians and residents etc. Already many families are coming ahead to share their homes with tourists as home-stays and there are some superior home stays offered to the tourists in the country.

Also, there is increasing acknowledgment of the substantial change off from the predominance of the conventional sunlight, sand and ocean vacation towards much experiential vacations. The home-stays can provide the unusual experience a tourist expects by sharing the traditions and its values and in twist gain sustained extra income and utilization to the local folk. Not simply the host gets to recognize about their guests.

Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala is already implementing a strategy to wave green flag to Home-stays in the state of kerala through the District Tourism Promotion councils. Classification of house stays is based on bringing away clear-cut guidelines on the required facilities, procedures for classification, benefits to operators, benefits to the community and the tourists etc and to promote the locals for participating in the strategy to increase the presence of hospitality options and room capability in the country with negligible investment.
