Volvo Ocean Race in Cochin, Kochi

Kochi or Cochin, the queen of arabian sea is all establish to secure its spot among the outstanding ports of the world. The historical port metropolis will shortly get the unusual accolade of being a layover port for the influential Volvo Ocean Race
2008-09. It is for the very first time india is hosting such an influential navigation event and Kochi is the simply port of request in India. The new layover ports include Cape Town, Singapore, Qingdao, Rio de Janeiro, Boston, Galway, Goteborg and Stockholm. The finishing of the race will be at St. Petersburg, Russia, in July 2009. Referred to as the ‘Everest of Sailing’, the Volvo Ocean Race is one of the world’s almost demanding and audacious squad sporting events. This version of the race will have 11 sea legs, seven inshore races and shorter stopovers in a road that touches the hitherto uncharted territories of Asia. The seven yachts participating in the race will come in Kochi in December and will remain for 10 days, before starting the next stage to Sentosa Island in Singapore.
