Health and Medical Tourism in Uttarkhand

The state of Uttarakhand in India plans to venture into medical and health tourism in a major manner by taking the unique advantage of abundant medicinal and aromatic plants. Till in the recent years the tourism department of uttarkhand was concentrating on religious or pilgrimage tourism and adventure tourism. The state is planning to follow the path of kerala, the state who have pioneered in health tourism especially Ayurveda related tourism. The state has plans to focus on large-scale production of various types of herbs and aromatic plants which are used for traditional medical treatment of various ailments. The government of uttarkhand is about to encourage people to cultivate these type of medicinal cash crops that will help to sustain the health tourism in the state which will also help in create employment for more people in the region. The state government of uttarkahand has been giving prominence to 'wellness' as a product for promoting tourism in the region.

Health tourism has received a big boost in Uttrakhand especially in the parts of rishikesh and is witnessing arrival of large number of foreign travellers, who come to avail high class medical herbal treatments.
